Project Overview

Jointly owned by The Regional Municipalities of York and Durham, Duffin Creek WPCP is located on the shore of Lake Ontario in Pickering. The plant serves the water pollution treatment needs of Aurora, Newmarket, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Markham, Pickering, and Ajax.

For this project, Kenaidan constructed an influent pumping station and headworks facility, including a preliminary treatment building, biofilter building, aerated grit tanks, flow metering building, and electrical building.

Working at this operational plant requires extensive civil work and tie-ins that need to be coordinated with plant staff. Subsurface work included constructing flow control chambers, channels, site services, duct banks, and other utility services.

This project is part of the ongoing expansion of the existing plant to 630 ML/day, where Kenaidan recently completed the Stage 3 Influent PS and the Dewatering and Incineration facilities.
