Project Overview

The T1 Heating Contingency project was a vital upgrade to the boiler systems at Terminal 1 at Pearson International Airport.

Our contract installed twelve electric boilers that provide heat to Hammerhead F, Pier G, Pier E, and Pier F. The work involved all associated piping replacements, valving, BAS control integration, and nine switchgear cubicles, with modifications to three existing circuit breakers. It also included the sequential start-up and commissioning of the boiler systems and switchgear.

We used a staged work approach and scheduled the work into four separate packages, organized by year (2019-2022), to not interfere with the heating seasons.

Construction was within the air side of the airport and involved managing work continuously with airport operations and security staff.
