Project Overview
The new Macaulay Point Pump Station conveys wastewater from western core area municipalities and the Esquimalt and Songhees Nations to the McLoughlin Point WTP. The Macaulay Forcemain connects the Macaulay Point Pump Station to the McLoughlin Point WTP.
Kenaidan was awarded the design-build contract for the new 400 ML/day, below-grade pump station and headworks facility. The work included demolishing existing structures, 13-metre-deep rock excavation for the pump station construction, and 800 metres of 1,350 mm large diameter sewage forcemain pipe. The project featured the supply, installation and commissioning of eight sewage pumps, screenings and grit handling equipment, backup power generation and odour control.
The project was located within a residential area and required extensive coordination for the public impacts throughout construction.
