Project Overview

Kenaidan’s contract upgraded passenger Boarding Bridges (PBBs) at Toronto Pearson Airport.

PBBs are enclosed, movable connectors that link the terminal building with an aircraft at the gate. The structures enable the safe and convenient boarding and disembarkation of passengers from a plane.

Work included installing trolley safety catch cables on 42 bridges, a safety feature to prevent the accidental dropping of bridge cables and hoses. The cables are an important component of PBB systems and ensure the safety of passengers, airport personnel, and equipment.

The other contract component rehabilitated the subflooring and flooring on 13 PBBs, including tunnels, transition ramps, and the PBB cab. Our work removed all existing subflooring and flooring finishes. After levelling and priming the subfloors, the flooring was replaced with non-slip black rubber flooring and carpet.
