Project Overview
The Milton Velodrome hosted the track cycling competitions during the 2015 Pan/Parapan Am Games. The indoor track is classified as a Class 1 track and is designed to meet the stringent requirements set by the International Cycling Union. It is the sole facility of its kind in Canada.
The 250-metre long, seven-metre wide timber track is made from Siberian spruce and includes 42-degree banked bends and 12-degree banked straights. The three-storey oval-shaped facility has a 1,500 permanent seat capacity and can expand to 2,500 to accommodate large-scale events.
The facility houses athlete change rooms and amenities, a fitness centre, and serves as the home for the National Cycling Team. The infield is used for other recreational activities, such as basketball and volleyball.
This Public Private Partnership (P3) contract was awarded by Infrastructure Ontario to the joint venture team of Kenaidan Contracting Ltd. and Bouygues Building Canada Inc.
In 2015 the project received its LEED® Silver certification.
