Project Overview

The Arts Classroom and Administration Building at the University of Toronto’s Scarborough Campus accommodates 600-700 students daily.

Contract 1 included foundation works for the building, self-performed by Kenaidan. Contract 2 is a 5,575 m2 4-storey building. The ground floor houses the Scarborough Campus’s welcome and visitors’ centre, the council chamber for the governing body, and the registrar’s office. The upper floors have an arts studio, music studio, and classrooms with a 300-seat lecture theatre with stepped seating.

Kenaidan self-performed the cast-in-place concrete, exposed concrete columns, and polished concrete floors throughout the building. The exterior is brick with an aluminum curtain wall, an aluminum-clad penthouse, and a stone veneer. The building incorporates LEED credit features, including a green roof garden and a high-performance, low-argon-filled glazed window system.
