Project Overview
This Hamilton multimodal transit hub is a community landmark and urban gateway. It was the central station for the 2015 Pan Am Games in Hamilton.
Kenaidan built the station building and two train platforms. Four access towers and overpass bridges are fully enclosed with a curtain wall and glazing system and provide weather-proof access. The north and south concrete platforms have in-slab glycol heating and integrated heated shelters.
The complex was designed with priority service for pedestrian, bicycle, and bus transit patrons. An urban plaza, equipped with facilities for public events, informal landscape areas and gardens for all users, creates a forecourt to the station building and is lined by a four-bay bus loop.
Accommodating 300 vehicles, the multi-level parking deck and surface lot tie into the station building.
This project is the recipient of the a 2016 Ontario Builders Award – Top Project Category 3 Industrial.
